This document is a military appointment of Francis Thornton Pope as "...Assistant to the Quartermaster General, in the Regular Army..." Countersigned by Dwight F. Davis as Secretary of War, and Robert C. Davis as Major General. (Note: Dwight F. Davis is best remembered as the founder of the Davis Cup Games of which he played in the very first match; and as the donor of the cup that bears his name.) Slight creases (almost invisible); otherwise boldly signed and in very good condition.
