Inscribed by Paul Horgan to Howard Kissel, dated 1979. Includes a signed, typed letter on Wesleyan University stationary. The letter reads: "Dear Howard Kissell, to thank you warmly for such good talk over lunch the other day. I was much gratified that you already had had extensive knowledge of my work. I send with this a copy of my Rio Grande history. It was published in 1954 and has never been out of print (though the two volume paperback has lapsed and is between editions); but through God knows how many printings, the publishers have never changed that idiotically out of date photograph on the jacket. Please discard. FSG are sending you my Richard novels -- if you read them, the proper order is 1, Things as They Are; 2, Everything to Live for; 3, The Thin Mountain Air. All the best, Yours sincerely, Paul Horgan."
