Item #235400 Spring/Summer 1976 Plate 73. Christian DIOR.

Spring/Summer 1976 Plate 73

Paris: Christian Dior, 1976.

Ink, watercolor and gouache on xerograph. Fabric swatches attached with staples. Sheet measures 12 1/2" x 8 7/8".

This original croquis from the designer Christian Dior features a dress from the Spring/Summer 1976 collection, when the house was under designer Marc Bohan. This croquis was made from a xerograph of an original drawing, which was then hand-colored with ink, watercolor, and gouache. The design shows a long, elegant, pale green dress with a finely pleated skirt. Swatches of the appropriate fabric, one flat and one pleated, are stapled to the sheet. These sketches were produced in a limited quantity and presented to potential clients in attendance at the Paris Couture shows held by Dior in the spring and fall of each year. This example is in good condition and makes a wonderful document for any lover of fashion.
