1930. Circular bronze medallion in high relief. Medallion measures 5" in diameter.
This fine bronze medallion features a left-facing bust portrait of Christian Bäumler (1836-1933), a German cardiologist based in Frankfurt. Bäumler is depicted at the age of 70. Engraved text on the back reads "Viro Doctissimo Alumno suo atque sodali Artis Medicinae Investigatori Filio Frankoniae Illustrissimo Doctoris Nomine ante LXX Annos Appellato Piis Votis Congratulatur." Karl Dautert was an established German sculptor of portraits and medallions whose work was often copied for stamps and other ephemera.
