Israeli patriot and fourth President of Israel, who was an acclaimed biophysicist at the Weizmann Institute of Science. From 1966 to 1968, he was the Chief Scientist of the Israeli Defense Forces and completed experiments which helped to lay the groundwork for what is now called enzyme engineering. In 1973, while at Harvard University, Golda Meir contacted him asking him to accept the Presidency of Israel. He accepted and is remembered (pro and con) for having hosted President Anwar Sadat of Egypt in the very first ever official visit of an Arab head of state.
