Charming black and white painting on panel. The interior scene shows sixteen figures cozily warming themselves in front of the fire. Painting is in very good condition, with a light pencil scratch. Paine (1858-1905) was an American artist born in Vermont. He studied art and worked many years in Philadelphia and later in Paris.
