This black-and-white photo, imprinted "PERCY HEATH - THE MODERN JAZZ QUARTET" on the bottom, depicts Heath performing with his upright bass. Signed in ballpoint pen on the wide bottom white margin. Small pinholes at the corners (almost invisible); otherwise near fine.
American Jazz bassist and composer who was brought to New York City by Miles Davis in 1950. He was introduced to John Lewis and the two founded the legendary Modern Jazz Quartet, adding superstars Kenny Clarke and Milt Jackson. Arguably the most recorded jazz bass player of all time.
