Printed at the Riverside Press in Cambridge. Photogravures by A.W. Elson & Co., Boston. Billings purchased 25 acres of land on the site of Fort Tryon in northern Manhattan, and built a summer residence & stables there. In the 1910 Census, Billings listed himself, his wife, 2 children & 23 servants as part of his household. He sold the property to John D. Rockefeller in 1917, and in 1925 Tryon Hall was destroyed by a fire. Fort Washington was Manhattan's last American stronghold, lost in the battle of Nov. 16, 1776 to the British, who renamed it Fort Tryon. The site is now incorporated in Fort Tryon Park. Front hinge weakened otherwise a fine copy.
