New York: R. Martens & Co., Inc. unbound. Wall map folded in 24 sections. Uncolored lithograph mounted on linen. Image measures 36.25" x 68.25" very good.
Rare large scale map of south western Siberia, circa 1915. Shows political boundaries, towns, waterways and major routes. Published by R. Martens & Co., a firm specializing in export trade with Russia and an early proponent of American Russian business relations. This map is a prime example of such efforts. It is unusual in not focusing on topographical or geographical features, but rather, the map's clean graphic quality indicates its application for industrial research. A unique item for pre-Cold War history enthusiasts. Scattered chipping and losses, mainly along original folds. Library stamp from American Museum of Natural History at lower right.
