The Art of Deer-Stalking; Illustrated by a Narrative of a Few Days' Sport in the Forest of Atholl,; with some account of the Nature and Habits of Red Deer, and a short description of the Scottish Forests; legends; Superstitions; Stories of Poachers and Freebooters, &c.

London: John Murray, 1838.

Frontispiece and extra illustrated title page, both engraved after paintings by Edwin Landseer and dated 1839. With 10 additional sepia toned lithograph plates; other figures in the text. xix, [i], 436pp. Tall 8vo, beautifully bound by Riviere & Son in 3/4 forest green morocco; gilt-decorated spine with deer head motif; marbled endpapers. London: John Murray, 1838. First edition. A scarce book.

Both joints neatly repaired; 3 plates have faint dampstain in corner, otherwise a very nice clean copy with minimal foxing. Spine and extra title are dated 1839 but title states 1838 and this is definitely not the "new" 1839 edition.
