Both items are one page, 7 x 4.5 inches, South Hampstead. The letter was written on December 25, 1891, in full: "My gilder will send you a little picture of a trout painted by Bennett. Kindly accept it as a gift from me. A merry Christmas to you all." The note was written on March 26, 1884, in part: "In receipt of yours...I remain with thanks..." Both items have bold signatures and are in very good condition.
Scottish-born artist best known for his paintings of historical and literary subjects. Because of his untimely death at the age of 53, Pettie letters seldom come to market.
