The McAllister 400 (Officially Supervised)

New York: Melville Publishing.

19p., 16mo, printed wrappers; bottom of spine chipped. (N.Y.).: Melville Publishing Co., n.d.

McAllister, a socialite, made himself a spokesman of New York City's wealthy, & maintained that only about 400 persons living in New York had any claim to be "society", or to be comfortable in a ballroom. The list begins, of course, with the Astors and rounds off harmoniously toward the end with Vanderbilts. A scarce bit of ephemera.
