The first volume is one of only 200 copies; the second is one of 300, and bears a "compliments slip from Bruce Rogers, with a holograph note. Also included are two long autograph letters, signed, from Bruce Rogers to reviewer Lewis Gannett, presenting the books..." I will not say a `book' as it violates most of my ideas of bookmaking"...He writes about T.E. and his translation of The Odyssey..."I really think he likes me as much as he ever did any one..." and quotes for Gannett's delectation one of the passages he had to leave out of the book for fear of a libel suit. (Letter 24.xi.34, referring to a contretemps with the President of the University of Missouri. Fine.
