Item #205000 Frisia Occidentalis. J. JANSSON.

Frisia Occidentalis

Amsterdam: Jansson, J., 1666.

Map. Uncolored engraving. Image measures 15.25" x 19.5".

Map of three of the West Frisian Islands, Vlieland, Terschelling and Ameland, as well as part of Friesland. Shows rail lines, post roads and major churches. Latin text on back. Minor staining along top margin, some wear to lower corners. Jan Jansson was part of an influential family of map publishers from the Netherlands throughout the 17th century and beyond. They were based in Arnhem then in Amsterdam. They were printers, publishers and booksellers. Major publications were under the joint ownership of the Jansson heirs and their printing empire. This is a beautiful example of his work.
