Written four years before becoming president, in part: "...I send Charles for my flower, box of books...you will please deliver them to him. Please provide for Mrs. Jackson two dishes white to bake in - two tin milk pans and & oblige...P.S. I send little Hutchings down will you have the goodness to have his measure taken by your taylor & have him a suit of cloathes [sic] made for him. I want them long as he is growing - out of blue broadcloth..." Hutchings, the orphaned grand nephew of Rachel Jackson, was taken in and raised by the Jacksons from the age of five. Slight foxing; weak natural folds reinforced with tape. Very good(-) condition.
