Prague: Georg Melantrich, 1559.
Illustrated with an opening woodcut initial, and a floral border printed around the prayer for the consecration. pages. Slim 12mo, bound in old decorative red paper wrappers. Prague: Georg Melantrich, 1559.
An extremely rare, apparently unique copy of this little book of prayers of thanksgiving to be said during the mass, according to the example of the Greek church. We can find no dates for Christoph Freisleben or Phreyslebius, Doctor of both civil and canon law, only that he flourished circa 1544. He wrote two works on the Institutiones of Justinian, but we can trace no other copy of the present title. other considerations aside, this is a nice example of sixteenth- century Prague printing. -Not in Adams, Tobolka, NUC, BN or BL.
