In this letter, Balfour respectfully declines an invitation to take part in the Fund for the Restoration of Rheims Cathedral, in part: "...I feel at once overwhelmed and ashamed at the number of somewhat similar duties which I have undertaken; and I really dare not add to their number!" Natural folds; Balfour's name written at the top of the page in another hand. Very good(-) condition.
