Lenghty Autographed Letter Signed by a drill inventor

Georgetown Colorado Territory: 1869.

4 pages on white paper, each fold-out spread measuring 8 x 10 inches, Georgetown Colorado Territory, July 5, 1869. This stoic and detailed autographed letter, written by drill inventor and prospector "G.T. Edwards," discusses mining in Colorado and reports of a new explosive manufactured in San Francisco. In large part: "...Surely it would be a strange combination of circumstances which would...force me to seek again the great city of Colorado...I came to this place full of the hope of gliding smoothly over the road that leads to fortune...But another in whom confidence had been reposed had proven treacherous...I have recovered almost all the ground lost through the channel of dishonesty...I have heard they are manufacturing in San Francisco, & using in the mines of California, a kind of powder for blasting purposes. Known as the little giant powder, I hear that its as safe as our common powder...None of this powder has ever been used in Colorado that I have heard of & if it is what I hear it is, I would be glad to introduce it with my drill into our gold & silver mines..."
