East Sussex, England: 1964.
1 page, 8 x 6.5 inches, East Sussex, England, January 23, 1964. Signed in full and written to an unknown correspondent, this letter deals with Burgess's sense of achievement, in part: "...As for your question, I find this very hard to answer, as the moment of triumph or achievement always lies in the future. I think when I have written a great novel on the life of a fictional musician...then, perhaps, I shall know a sense of achievement..." Includes a signed and dated 2.5 x 2.5-inch black-and-white candid snapshot of Burgess which he mentions in the letter as taken "in London by the Thames." Natural folds; near fine condition.
