Errata for volume I is bound at the end of volume II. Chesterfield's letters were written almost daily to his illegitimate son "whom he loved with the most unbounded affection, and whose education was, for many years, the chief engagement of his life." (from an advertisement to volume I). Published by Mrs. Eugenia Stanhope, the widow of Chesterfield's son, from the original letters in her possession.
