Thomas Thynne was a member of parliament who was a supporter of the Duke of Monmouth and against the Duke of York, the future James II. Thynne sent six men to murder one of his wife's former suitors. Count John Konigsmark. In response, Christopher Vratz, one of Konigsmark's followers, and two other men attacked Thynne's coach. Thynne was mortally wounded. The three attackers were found guilty and executed. Konigsmark was acquitted and fled in exile. Wing (STC), T2141.
