Thouvenel (1747-1815) who was an inveterate prize winner in his day, here presents the answer to a question posed by the Royal Academy of Science. The question: Indicate the medical properties of the animal kingdom: vipers, crayfish, turtles, woodlice, sperm whales. He was asked to give a chemical analysis and observe their pathologies. Thouvenel was the first Frenchman to write about galvanism.
