New York: Warner, 2002. Edited by Henry Louis Gates. 338 pages, 8vo, two tone boards, dust wrapper (both boards and wrapper show light wear). New York: Warner Books, 2002. A very good copy in a very good dust wrapper. Written in the 1850s, this is the only known novel by a female African American slave, and is possibly the first novel written by a black woman anywhere. An important work.
