Description: 2 pages, 10.5 x 7.25 inches, Quezon City, Philippines, May 31, 1966. In this rare and important letter to a teacher, Romulo reveals his peace-keeping philosophy, in part: "My receipt of your letter brought up to consciousness a strong conviction I had always held: that man is immortal and is never wasted. This fact was pressed upon my somewhat youthful skepticism during the Second World War at the last stand of the Filipino-American soldiers...Indeed, heroism comes from the fact that even the victor belongs always to the spoils." Natural folds; near fine condition.

Comments: Philippine general, diplomat, aide to MacArthur, and president of the U.N. General Assembly.

I recently purchased a book from you, having searched via the internet. The book came yesterday and this note commends your service and quick response. I was impressed with the care taken to wrap the book with tissue paper and several layers of corrugated cardboard, as well as the speed with which you must have sent it out. It arrived only a week after the order, in spite of the Thanksgiving holiday. I thank you for the attention paid to the quality of my order and hope we will do more business. - Steve C.
