Sacco introduced smallpox innoculation into Italy in 1799 and reported his results in the present book. It was very influential in promoting the general acceptance of Jennerian vaccination both in Italy and the rest of Europe through translations into French and German. It is particularly valuable for the statistics Sacco compiled from the million and a half vaccinations which he oversaw. Waller 8375.
