Description: 2 pages (front and back), 10 x 7.75 inches, addressed on the back of the accompanying blank page, New York, January 6, 1838. Written by the son of Elbridge Gerry to his mother, concentrating on family matters before turning to politics -- the family passion, in part: "...I have been thinking what to call my little Boy, and have determined as there is one Elbridge Gerry in the family, and no grand-child who bears the surname to call him Elbridge Thomas...What a singular state of affairs has grown out of the Canada quarrels!..." Natural folds; tearing at the wax seal on the blank last page does not obscure the text. Very good(+) condition.

Dear Sir, I received two autographed letters yesterday, much faster than I expected! I'm a fan of Anne Morrow Lindbergh and I happened to find this item when I was browsing her books... The letters look great and I'm very happy to read her own writing in my hand. Thank you very much for your great business. - Toshihiko Hori
