Comments: The first section of this work is a treatise on digestion arranged in 264 sections. In it Spallanzani confirmed earlier doctrines of the solvent nature of gastric juices and discovered the action of saliva in digestion. The second part on the generation of animals contains his arguments against the theory of spontaneous generation, in which his conclusions anticipated those expressed by Pasteur nearly a century later. The work incorporates 2 letters of comment and suggestions by Bonnet. GM 981 (First ed.).

As an Interior Decorator I am on the constant lookout for source material for my clients. I recently completed a Studio pied a terre in the Georgian period for Mr. David Brown at Lincoln Center. That is, we were almost finished with only the artwork to be designed and purchased. I have a passion for antique architectural prints and I can't believe that I didn't know about Argosy Books.
