Description: 4 pages (front and back) with each two-page spread measuring 8.25 x 10.5 inches. Sacketts Harbor, New York, September 27, 1882. Signed "O.B. Willcox" to Gen. Brackett, in part: "...I wrote you a note which I hope reached you safely from Prescott to Grant or Milbery, appreciative of your valuable service in Arizona & your loyalty to me. I think if your friend Carr had pursued a similar career to that followed by yourself, Shafter & Evans, he would have come out much better...Sherman, who has been here to see us, says he intends to relieve the 10th by the 21st next summer & to keep two Infantry regiments East if possible..." Tears along the folds and some staining; good condition.

Comments: Union brigadier general wounded and captured at Bull Run and held hostage for C.S.A. privateers.
