Recounts the island's history from its discovery by Columbus to the 1720s. Author was a Jesuit historian who spent four years in Quebec, prior to 1720 when he explored the great lakes region and down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico. He voyaged to Santo Domingo, where he spent the month of September of 1722. This work contains significant information on the indigenous peoples of Santo Domingo.
