Description: Illustrated with 41 plates, 32 in color (some early chromolithography, mostly gold and/or silver, but the majority are then hand-finished with bright colors, some rather extensively and a few rather minimally), plus 29 black & white figures in the text. Folio (15" x 11.25" x 1.5"), beautifully bound by F. Bedford in full red morocco with ornately gilt spine covers and inner dentelles; expertly recased, lightly rubbed, cloth slipcase (rubbed). London: William Pickering, 1851. A very good(+) copy with light scattered foxing.

Comments: One of several works by the noted English antiquary "That are rendered of permanent value by the knowledge and taste displayed in the selection of the examples by which they are illustrated, and by the careful drawing and colouring of the plates". DNB XVII 1375. Previous owner's bookplate.

Your site is very easy to navigate: the ability to select the state through an image is very helpful, and your information comes up quickly.
