Comments: Most of the text reports the trial in the form of poetical verses. Pages 49-62 are excerpts of newspaper articles on the suit. George Opdyke was Mayor of New York City and an ally of New York State political boss, Thurlow Weed. They became political enemies. Opdyke sued Weed for libel after Weed accused Opdyke of political corruption. The jury was unable to reach an unanimous verdict in the case.Edition: First
