Autographed Letter Signed on "Vice President's House" stationery

Washington, D.C. 1983.

2 pages (front and back), 8.5 x 6.5 inches, Washington, D.C., April 1, 1983. Written to then-Democratic Congressman from Illinois Paul Simon, in full: "You have my vote - at least on learning foreign languages - maybe on everything! Some times I feel like shaking everyone's hand! Why don't they see what you and I see? Thanks for the 'Tongue Tied American.' George and I enjoyed seeing you the other night. I still feel funny making remarks with people like you and George in the room!" Paul Simon gained national prominence after severely criticizing President Bush during the 1992 Presidential campaign. Not surprising, Barbara's opinion of him changed dramatically thereafter. Staple holes in the upper left corner, but otherwise near fine condition.

Wife of the 41st President of the United States, George H.W. Bush, and First Lady of the United States from 1989 to 1993.
