The author took up a public offer by John Lloyd Stephens to go to the Yucatan. Norman arrived in December, 1841 and stayed 3 months. This work became popular and went through five editions by 1849. The text has scattered light foxing, mostly to the margins. Some of the plates have light foxing, mostly to the margins, however most of the lithographs are free of foxing. Palau 193027.
