Date Published: 1628

Description: 1 page, 16 x 18.5 inches (plus ribbons), County of Bedford, June 4, 1628 -- a marriage agreement between his daughter Mary Cromwell and Edward Rolt of Pertenhall in Bedfordshire. Signed by all three across the sheaths that house the hanging ribbons and seals. Note: Sir Oliver's privy seal still remains attached to its mounting with the embossed lion (walking and facing left) visible to the naked eye. All three signatures are light from being exposed to sunlight but can be seen without the use of magnification. The document itself is boldly written as the day it was created almost 400 years ago. An interesting piece by the uncle and Godfather of, arguably, one of the most important figures in English history. Very good condition.

Comments: English politician and attorney to Queen Anne who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1589 and 1625. He was the uncle and Godfather of Oliver Cromwell, general and Lord Protector of England.

Hello Naomi and Michele. A BIG thank you for your quick delivery of both President Wilson's TLS and Edith Bolling Wilson's letter to Mrs. Bainbridge Colby. They are both magnificent! My eyes actually welled up after seeing and reading them. You're talking to an old west Texas boy who grew up reading American History at age 8. I am 48 now and I still love it! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You have made my day! - Tex
