Description: 1 page, 10.5 x 7.25 inches, no place, August 22, 1945. In this letter, Nimitz gives advice to an admirer, in part: "...While I know you will get a great deal of pleasure out of writing letters, I suggest that you devote some of your time to studies, particularly mathematics. This subject is one of which will be of valuable assistance to you in later life..." Note: Nimitz was adamant about the study of mathematics, having felt that prior to World War II, Annapolis Naval Academy had not focused enough attention on a math curriculum. Fine condition.
