Description: 1 page, 11 x 8.5 inches, Scott's Cove, Darien, Connecticut, August 14, 1951. Written to powerful New York attorney Frederic R. Coudert, declining to attend a function due to a need to maintain his and Anne's privacy, in part: "...A certain amount of publicity almost invariably arises when we go to dinners or meetings, and we are most anxious to continue living quietly with our children. It is difficult to describe the relief it has been to us to be able to move about normally, to go to restaurants, theaters, etc. in the city without being recognized, pointed out, and pestered with requests for autographs etc. One loses contact with the essential elements of life when one is too constantly on newspapers pages..." Lindbergh adds a handwritten closing: "I am extremely sorry that circumstances prevent our being with you that evening." Very good condition.

Dear Argosy. THANK YOU very very much. I ordered the book "A Case of Removal of the Lower Jaw, for Osteo-Sarcoma of Immense Size" by George C. Blackman. I was pleased beyond words just to think that I was getting an original copy of a book that my great great grandfather wrote. When it arrived it was an even bigger treasure for me, as his own handwriting was in the upp right corner of the cover, giving the book to a fellow colleague. Thanks again so very much for helping me bring my ancestry searching a little closer and more personal. - S.B. Pratt
