Description: 3 x 5.5 inches, no place, no date, circa 1868. Alvord addressed the envelope to "Dr. J. W. Draper, Hastings on the Hudson, N. York" and affixed a Scott # 64 3c Washington stamp. Draper (1811 - 1882) was an American scientist, chemist, historian, and pioneer photographer who is credited with taking the first image of a female's face in 1839. He is also the founder of NYU Medical School. Draper docketed this envelope "Gen Alvord." -- a wonderful association piece considering the fact that Draper is rare in any form. Very good condition.

Hello. I ordered a book from you via Abebooks a short while ago; it arrived today. Since one cannot leave feedback there, I wanted to send you a note to thank you for packaging the book so carefully! I know the item wasn't very expensive, but it was a gift for my mother, who was quite thrilled to receive it. Thank you very much for taking the time to be so thorough. Best regards - E. Bell
