Description: 3 pages, 7.25 x 4.5 inches, October 30, 1849. In this letter, Wilson requests that the recipient advise a group attending his forthcoming lecture "not to give any detailed report of what I say...I hope they will grant this request and will not think that I am in any way interfering with their intentions or duties..." Together with an 11.5 x 8.25-inch mezzotint portrait of Wilson as professor of moral philosophy in the University of Edinburgh, and a smaller mezzotint, 9.75 x 6.25 inches including the wide borders, as Christopher North in his sporting jacket. The larger mezzotint has a small closed tear on the right edge and light foxing at the bottom. The smaller mezzotint has glue and paper remnants at the edges on the back. The letter has a small notation in pen at the upper left corner of the first page and paper remnants on the final blank page. All three items are in very good(-) condition.

I must confess that one of the best parts of any trip I make to NYC is to visit your bookstore and be received with such kindness. Today I had two big pleasures: Argosy and Renne Flemming's performance... If I have time on this trip I will again pass by your store again, otherwise I will contact you from Brazil. Best regards, - Eduardo
