Description: 4 pages, 3 blank, 13 x 8 inches, manuscript on printed official stationery, round state seal, with the officer's acknowledgement of having received the money, Port-au-Prince, February 2, 1816. In this letter, Petion directs the republic's treasurer to pay a month's wages to one of his army officers, Col. Cerisier, in part: "...invite le tresorier general a payer des fonds de la Caisse militaire au Colonel Cerisier de l'Etat major un mois de ses appointements. Cette depense sera regularisee par l'adm. gen'l des finances." Small chips and closed tears at the edges; very good(-) condition.
