Comments: Author interviewed Thomas Jefferson's immediate family and had access to a large collection of manuscripts provided by them. These papers were subsequently scattered over the years. Henry Randall is the only Jefferson biographer who had access to the entire collection. Randall's Life of Thomas Jefferson, "...remains the most detailed and useful life of Jefferson."
