Description: 2 pages (front and back), 9.75 x 12.25 inches, Atlanta, Georgia, July 5, 1864. This partially printed document, signed with rank by Wright, discusses the defense of Atlanta as Sherman's army approached and includes a provision to impress slaves "if the Negroes cannot be hired." Small hole near the top of the page; several folds and stains. Very good(-) condition.

Comments: Confederate Brigadier General from Tennessee, who distinguished himself at Chickamauga; later appointed agent of the War Department to compile the Official Records of the War of the Rebellion.
