Date Published: 1835

Description: 9.5 x 7 inches, no place, no date, circa 1835 -- a preliminary drawing of what would become his famous portrait of artist and friend Paul Delaroche, later reproduced as a lithograph by de Kaeppelin. The back contains a small, faint, detailed vignette of what appears to be an incomplete arched bridge with buildings in the distance. One small closed tear in the left margin; slight foxing; faint paperclip stain in the upper left corner. Very good(-) condition.

Comments: French painter and illustrator who holds a distinguished place among those members of the Romantic School. He also worked in wood cut and lithographic crayon and is known for his passionate portraits in that medium.

I want to thank you for your excellent service. I telephoned to inquire about the availability of a book this past Wednesday morning. Michele informed me it was available and took my order at about 11 AM EST. The next day when I got home from work, I was astounded to find that the book had been delivered in the early afternoon -- less than 30 hours after the order. Now, I know that UPS deserves some credit, but such fast delivery would not have occurred if Michele (and perhaps others) had not worked extremely efficiently. The book was well packed and fully meets my expectations, and Michele even got my name right! You have demonstrated a level of service I hope all merchants would meet. Thanks again. - Guy Hasegawa
