4 pages (front and back), 6.5 x 5.25 inches, accompanied by a handwritten envelope bearing an additional signature, Coney Island, New York, May 31, 1916. Signed "E.H. Sothern" in response to a letter complimenting him on a recent performance, in part: "...It was sweet & kind of you to express such generous appreciation for my work & for Mrs. Sothern & we are both grateful since that is what we have worked for with much enthusiasm and loving care. It is gratifying to receive your letter of approval..." The signature at the end of the letter is a bit smeared, but overall this item is very good(+) condition.
