Item #250016 Three Autographed Pieces of Memorabilia. Admirial Robert Edwin PEARY, 1856 - 1920.

Three Autographed Pieces of Memorabilia

New York: 1907.

A scrapbook page of Peary memorabilia, including 3 items, starting with his handwritten comments written over a reproduction of a photo of an Eskimo in his kayak (to be used as an illustration in Peary's book called "Children of the Arctic"), in full: "This can go in the chapter which speaks of being at Etah after getting out of the ice in Payer Harbor in the spring of 1901 or as a tailpiece where there is space." The other two items are a clipped signature and a partially printed application card for the Men's Association of the Brick Church, filled out and signed in pencil in Peary's hand. All three items are pasted to 1 page, 11 x 8.5 inches, no place, 1907. Three punch holes in the left margin; small patch of imprinted text on the left side; closed tear on the right side. Accompanied by a clipped section of a letter signed by Peary's publisher, Frederick A. Stokes: "I enclose, also, a rather interesting leaf of proof showing one of the illustrations of 'Children of the Arctic' with MS. comments by Peary." Very good(-) condition.
