Autographed Letter in French
Spain: 1853.
1 page on gray paper, 8.5 x 5.25 inches, with a handwritten address on the back along with several postmarks, Spain, May 1853. This moving letter signed "Sue" was a response to a friend who was exiled in Spain. Sue wrote this letter also while in exile and described the suffering he experienced being away from home. He thanked his friend for a letter and asked him where and how Sue could send him a book edited in Geneva. Small tears along the folds; paperclip impression in the top margin; Sue's name and dates written in a different hand on the bottom margin; partially-erased pencil notations on the back. Good condition.
