Description: 1 page on blind-stamped "Arlington Club Portland, Oregon" stationery, 6.5 x 5 inches, Portland, Oregon, January 18, 1914 -- ransmitting a letter by his mother, famous Polish Shakespearean actress Helena Modrezejewska (aka Madame Modjeski), to a collector, in part: "...I am sorry it is written in Polish, but all I have now are letters written to members of the family." Rust stain from a paperclip in the top margin; very good(-) condition.

Comments: Polish-born American bridge designer of such well-known bridges as the San Francisco Bay Bridge, the Ben Franklin Bridge in Philadelphia, and the Blue Water Bridge connecting Port Huron, Michigan with Ontario, Canada.
