4 pages (front and back), each two-page spread measuring 7 x 9 inches, Austria, October 10, 1892. Written to music school director Boris Schloesser, discussing the prospects of taking on Miss Clara Goodson as a student. He advises that she will need to take a course of preparation before she could be admitted as a regular student and that she must be willing to devote herself to playing and technique. "Some of my best students need to do this...including myself on certain occasions." Written in the year of his painful divorce from fellow pianist Annette Essipova. One horizontal fold; tiny brown spot on the bottom margin of page 3. Near fine condition.

Polish composer, grand pianist, and professor. His students included Ignacy Paderewski and Artur Schnabel.
