In this letter, William acknowledges salutations received on his appointment as Lord High Admiral of the British navy, in part: "I have this day received yours of 22nd instant and thank you most sincerely for your kind congratulations on my appointment to this most arduous situation..." Heavy folds; very good condition.

Comments: Duke of Clarence who became King of the United Kingdom and Ireland upon the death of George IV, serving from June 26, 1830 until his death.
