Description: War-date autograph document signed "J. Huntington" diagonally across the signature of Committee member and fellow patriot Ebenezer Wales, 1 page, 6.5 x 8.5 inches, Pay Table Office, September 25, 1781, just three weeks before Cornwallis's surrender, ordering Treasurer John Lawrence to "pay East Windsor Selectmen Thirty pounds in Bills of the State...and to charge it to the State of Connecticut." Small tears along the natural folds; very good condition.

Comments: American General in the Continental Army who served on the court martial proceedings that tried General Charles Lee in 1778 and which condemned Major Andre in 1780. George Washington appointed him collector of the port of New London after the war.
