Stunningly printed maps, both contemporary and classical, of Europe, Africa, Asia, Asia Minor, the Holy Land and the Americas. Included is a beautiful double hemisphere map of the world. An avid traveler and geographer, Philipp Cluver (1580-1623) was born in Gdansk, but spent most of his life in Leiden. Originally published in 1624, this atlas was considered a standard for many years, as evidenced by its numerous reissues.
